Eligibility
Eligibility Under Your State of Delaware Plans
You are eligible for coverage under the State plans if you are a(n):
- Permanent full-time employee (regularly scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week or 130 or more hours per month)
- Elected or appointed official
- Permanent part-time employee (regularly scheduled to work less than 130 hours per month)
- Pensioner receiving or eligible to receive a pension from the State
Local supplement for State medical plans are based on negotiated contracts.
Eligibility Under Your School District Plans
Full-time and part-time employees are eligible for coverage under these plans based on negotiated contracts.
- For dental, prescription drug and vision care benefits, you are eligible on the first of the month on or after your date of hire.
- For life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) and long-term disability (LTD) benefits, you are eligible on your date of hire.
If you are absent from work because of an illness or injury on the day your insurance becomes effective, coverage will not begin until the day you return to work. For LTD coverage, pre-existing condition exclusions may apply.
