Other Important Information Should your spouse or dependents experience more than one qualifying event, they may be eligible for an additional period of continued coverage not to exceed a total of 36 months from the date of the first qualifying event. For example, if you terminate employment, you and your spouse or dependents may be eligible for 18 months of continued coverage. If during this 18-month period, your spouse or dependent child ceases to be a dependent under the plan (a second qualifying event), your child may be eligible for an additional period of continued coverage. This additional period may not exceed a total of 36 months from the date of your termination (the first qualifying event).
