For example, a spouse or dependent child may elect continuation coverage even if you do not elect continuation coverage.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"headings\">Newborn and Adopted Children<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>If you give birth or adopt a child while you are on COBRA continuation coverage, you may enroll your new child for COBRA coverage immediately.
