The State’s Flexible Spending Accounts

The Flexible Spending Accounts provide you with a way to pay for eligible uninsured medical, dental and dependent care expenses with tax-free money. Two Flexible Spending Account options are available:

• Health Care Spending Account
• Dependent Care Spending Account

By directing “pre-tax” money from your paycheck into one or both of these accounts, you can put up to 41% of the money you are spending on eligible expenses back into your pocket.

• You can use the money in your Health Care Spending Account to reimburse yourself for out-of-pocket medical, dental and vision expenses incurred by you or your eligible dependent(s).
• You can use the money in your Dependent Care Spending Account to reimburse yourself for any eligible day care expenses.
